Ultimus Clients

The Ultimus Client enables users to participate seamlessly in business processes using a Web browser without the need for any additional client-side software.

Ultimus provides several versions of its client for different platforms and applications. These are:

The Client manages all the communications with the process server and provides a simple, prioritised, and customisable task list for the user. Whenever the user selects an item from the task list, the electronic form for the task is displayed. Users can simply fill out the form and "send" it. The task is complete and the process moves forward.

The Client performs the following functions:

Prioritised Task List

Maintains a list of all the tasks that the user has to do. Tasks are prioritized as Current, Overdue, Urgent, Complete, Rejected, and Re-assigned.

Views

The Client allows users to define custom views. This enables them to see only the tasks with which they want to work. For convenience, the views for each user or group may be set centrally from the Ultimus Administrator.

Forms

The Client invokes the form for the task whenever the task is selected in the task list.

New Tasks

The Client allows the user to start new business processes by selecting a process from the Initiate Task View.

Defaults

Users can set defaults for any new process they initiate.

Attachments

Users can attach a file or a document to any business process. When a document is attached, a pointer to the document is carried with the process so that it can be reviewed by other process participants downstream.

Return

Users can return a process step. This causes the process to move to any previous step based on the Event Conditions Tables.

Confer

Sends a task to another user for information or advice but does not otherwise affect the properties or ownership of the task.

Archivev

This powerful auditing feature instructs the Client to automatically archive a form after it is completed. Archived Forms can be reviewed by authorised users in the Ultimus Client.

Miscellaneous Functions

The Ultimus Client has a variety of additional functions, such as configuring preferences, assigning tasks to other users, checking the status of an incident, and retrieving tasks from a queue.

Help

The Ultimus Client provides process and step level help directly from the form.

Custom Views

Ultimus provides the capability for a user or administrator to create custom views to display only relevant information for the application or user.

Thin Client

Ultimus includes a client option that makes it easy to include almost everyone in a business process without the multi-platform support issues that typically arise. The Thin Client is a pure HTML, browser-based client for use with any HTML compatible browser. It supports most of the features of the standard Ultimus Client. Users can use the standard or Thin Client based on their access machine. The Thin Client can operate on any platform, such as Macintosh, Linux, UNIX, and handheld wireless PDAs.
